The Ohio LinuxFest (OLF) is an annual technology conference and expo held since 2003 in Columbus, Ohio. The event is dedicated to discussion and development of the Linux kernel-based operating systems and other free and open-source software and hardware projects. It is a three-day event that includes classroom training, presentations, and workshops. The main conference is held on a Saturday, during which there are multiple tracks of presentations, including tracks dedicated for commercial speakers or career development. A day-long exposition floor permits attendees to make contact with a number of companies and non-profit organizations who share an interest in open source software. OLF is held in the Fall, usually in September. It attracts about one thousand attendees. Due to the organizers' core belief that "Open Source Means Open To All", there is no charge for basic registration. == History == The first Ohio LinuxFest was hosted by the Open Source Club student organization at the Ohio State University in 2003. The event was organized in an attempt to bring together members of Linux User Groups (LUGs) in the state of Ohio. Previous keynote speakers have been Douglas McIlroy, Jon "maddog" Hall, Jono Bacon, Stormy Peters, Cathy Malmrose, Bdale Garbee, Angela Byron, Monty Montgomery, and Wendy Seltzer.
